Adaptive Cruise Control

This is a safety feature you might not initially trust because it's quite close to having a self-driving car, but it is a feature you won't want to live without. This feature uses regular cruise control technology paired with advanced radar technology to adjust your vehicle's speed and even employ braking as needed. Your car will scan the road for traffic ahead of you and allow you to follow along based on the speed and following distance you set when you turn the feature on. Adaptive Cruise Control is available on Ford vehicles such as the 2017 Edge, Escape, Explorer, and Fusion.

BLIS (Blind Spot Information
System)

If you've ever complained about having to twist and turn in the driver's seat to be able to see around that pesky blind spot, you'll be thrilled to know BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) is available in many new Ford models. This driver assist feature is enabled when you're traveling six mph and over. This feature also uses radar to detect vehicles in your right or left blind spot. A small light will illuminate on the corresponding side mirror until the vehicle is out of your blind spot! BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) is available on models such as the Ford Taurus, Fusion, Explorer, and Edge!

Cross-Traffic Alert

This driver assist feature is available alongside the BLIS for ultimate blind spot awareness! The Cross-Traffic Alert feature is built to warn you about approaching vehicles up to 45 ft. away while you're backing up or in reverse. The Cross-Traffic Alert will warn you in three different ways by sounding an interior chime, illuminating the light on your side view mirror, and putting an alert in your message center. While this is a helpful feature, you should always look over your shoulder and reverse slowly. This feature is available with models like the Mustang, Focus, Fiesta, and Escape.

HAVE A SAFETY QUESTION?

Lane Keeping

This driver assist and safety feature offers alert and aid for unintentional lane drifting. The vehicle uses a camera to detect lane drift by following the lines on the road. If the camera sees the vehicle moving into the "alert zone", just outside the parallel road lines, the steering wheel will vibrate as an alert function to remind the driver to steer back into the lane. The Lane Keeping aid function will actually steer the wheel itself back into the lane. The Lane Keeping alert and aid can be used together or separately in vehicles like the Fusion. These two functions are enabled at 40 mph and are great for those who travel highways often!

Rear View Camera

The Rear View Camera is something you'll find in most new Ford vehicles. This feature is available with SYNC and SYNC 3 display screens. The camera is enabled when you shift the car into reverse, and will automatically display the view with guidelines on your screen. The display includes guidelines fit to the space behind you, as well as visual and audio alerts when you're getting close to an object behind or next to you.

Enhanced Active Park Assist with Side Sensing System

Those tight parallel parking spots are no longer need for worry with this driver assist feature. The Enhanced Active Park Assist feature with the Side Sensing System is enabled at 22 mph or below and can help you both find a parking spot and maneuver into it, too! When you turn the system on, it will begin scanning the sides of your vehicle for an appropriate opening. Upon finding a spot, it'll alert you by sounding a chime and displaying a message on the screen. The Park Assist will then display prompts to help you get in the spot, using the Rear View Camera and guidelines for extra assurance. All you have to do is shift, accelerate, and brake as needed! This feature is available on new Ford vehicles including the Escape!

Inflatable Rear Safety Belts

In the event of an accident, you'll want the most protection you and your passengers can get. Ford's revolutionary Inflatable Rear Safety Belts are available for rear, outboard seats in models like the new Fusion and Edge. These belts will inflate with cool gas for the purpose of spreading the impact of the collision over a larger area, preventing further seat belt injury to the passenger. While we never hope our customers have to use this feature, the peace of mind the Inflatable Rear Safety Belts provide is a great benefit!

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection

If you're someone with children, someone who lives in an urban area, or someone who enjoys a little help seeing ahead, the Pre-Collision Assist safety feature with Pedestrian Detection is for you! This feature is enabled at just three mph and can help alert you of potential collisions with vehicles, pedestrians, or other objects ahead. The Pre-Collision system is one that also uses radar to detect upcoming objects and will warn you with a red bar in the heads-up alert area of the windshield, an interior chime sound, and an alert in your message center. If the alert is ignored, the car will pre-apply the brakes and brake if needed to decrease the impact of the collision. This feature is available on the Ford Fusion.
